We are looking for people with good self learning abilities and will provide detailed training and coaching on the products, processes, and procedures which are specific to the home furnishings business.
Home Furnishings Sales and Design
If you would enjoy helping people find the best solutions for their home furnishings and design needs, consider a satisfying professional career in residential or commercial home furnishings sales. Blackledge Furniture is the mid valley's oldest and largest home furnishings center serving Oregon customers since 1901. The position involves identifying customer needs and helping them select the most appropriate products to meet their needs from a wide range of options in a casual, home like, store environment. Appropriate skills include sales and customer assistance skills, basic interior design knowledge such as color coordination, room arrangement, and fabrics, as well as general problem solving and selling skills. We provide extensive initial and on-going training on products, room design, and our business systems. Because of the breadth of our products, the most successful applicants demonstrate a good ability to learn new things quickly, and set strong self management goals.
Normal work hours are 8:40 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Saturday. We are not currently open on Sundays. Both full time, 5 day per week, and 4 day per week schedules may be available. Because 50% to 70% of total earnings normally result from commissions, our most successful sales advisers normally work Saturdays with days off mid week, since weekend days have higher levels of customer traffic.
The position requires good interpersonal communication, customer service, and self management skills. Prior selling experience with furniture, floor coverings, or related products is preferred, but not required. Some post secondary education with coursework in Art, Design, or Interior Design is preferred, but prior practical experience is also valuable. A valid drivers license and good driving record is needed for occasional design visits to residential and commercial sites. A good computer background and the ability to type at least 20 wpm is desirable, since our sales and operations are fully computerized. Because we value the safety of our staff, all our employees are vaccinated against Covid-19.
Compensation: Compensation is a combination of salary, sales commission, and self improvement incentives of $2200.00 to $6000.00+ or more per month, that rewards you for your individual skills and performance. Benefits for full time sales advisers after the 3 month training period include 10 to 24 days per year of paid personal leave/vacation per year. Furniture Warehouse-Delivery and Repair
Applicants should have good independent work initiative and communication skills and the ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds, and safely deliver and place items into homes or businesses. Good driving record, and previous mid size truck driving experience preferred. Prior furniture delivery assembly and repair or general woodworking experience is also preferred, but not required. Full- time work hours are 8:35 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., five days per week on a fixed schedule, but other part-time schedules may be available. Compensation: starting at $18-$22+ per hour depending on experience and furniture repair skills, including a monthly safety and performance bonus. Job Requirements include:
Good physical condition and the ability to safely lift and carry up to 60lb bulky items
A basic understanding of woodworking hand and power tools.
Some previous woodworking, carpentry or building maintenance experience preferred.
High School diploma or GED required, some college work preferred.
Valid driver's license, a good driving record, with prior truck driving experience preferred.
Applicants should be able to pass a drug screen, and DMV record check.
Applicants should have the ability and experience needed to assemble and carefully inspect products, and to correct minor woodworking problems.
Good communication, personal appearance and customer interaction skills are preferred.
Vaccination is required for Covid-19 prior to starting work.
Specific skill training in work procedures and job processes will be provided.
